Aage & Edith Pedersen:
May 10 & Aug 15, 2026
Cupertino
Our beloved parents, Aage and Edith Pedersen, passed away just months apart after nearly 70 years of marriage. Mom passed away in her sleep on Mothers Day, May 10, 2026, at 90 years of age. Dad followed her on August 15, 2026, at 97 years of age.
Aage and Edith were both born in Denmark, where their families had deep roots going back many centuries. Edith grew up in the Odsherred area, in various villages. Aage grew up on the family farm, in Kongstrup, Jutland, which had been in the family since 1723.
Aage worked on various farms and large manor farms after leaving home, and also served in the Danish Army. Edith left home and worked as a nanny and housemaid. They met when they both worked at the same small family farm, and Aage was instantly smitten! But Aage was determined to emigrate to the United States, and did so in 1954, joining Western Printing as a press operator in Racine, Wisconsin, with help from his cousin and her husband, residing there.
But Aage and Edith reconnected and started a beautiful correspondence which continued after he was drafted into the US Army soon after arriving in Racine. He was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany, with Battery B of the 26th Field Artillery Battalion, 9th Infantry Division. When he was on leave from the Army, he was able to visit Edith in nearby Denmark, where Edith attended Børkop Højskole, and studied nursing at Bispebjerg Hospital.
Aage and Edith were married in Grevinge Church, Denmark, on June 30, 1956, and took a honeymoon cruise together on a troopship across the stormy North Atlantic Ocean to the United States, courtesy of the US Army. They were both proud and grateful to become naturalized US citizens, but also stayed in close contact with the families back in Denmark.
After Aage completed his tour of service with the Army, he continued as a press operator, and he and Edith raised a family of four in Racine: Kenneth, Karen, Dennis and Mark. When the family relocated to Denmark, in 1970, Aage moved into construction, which he loved. Finally, the family settled down in Cupertino, California, in 1974, where Aage and Edith spent their remaining years. Aage’s construction business had a hand in many prominent projects throughout the greater Bay Area, including the Hewlett Packard Headquarters, Vallco Fashion Park, and many more, with his son Kenneth joining him in the business while Edith handled the bookkeeping.
Edith was a devoted and exemplary Christian, and a long-time member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in Cupertino. Aage loved to read, and studied wide-ranging topics that inspired his children to also think big. He also loved driving on endless road trips, often taking the whole family along for hikes and sight-seeing.
Their wide circle of friends stayed with them throughout their lives, with countless parties, letters, visits, and later on, through the internet. Edith was never afraid of technology! On their last big road trip to the Midwest, they even visited some of Aage’s army buddies.
Better parents would be hard to find. They are deeply missed.
Aage and Edith will be inurned at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, Seaside, California.
