Nancy Raybould Tronson

Nancy Raybould Tronson of Saratoga, CA, passed away August 23, 2026, at the age of 99. She joins her husband Lane with whom she was married for 70 years.

Nancy was born in San Mateo, CA to Miriam and Doris (Doc) Raybould. She and her twin Patricia (Pat) and her two older sisters Lucy and Betty grew up in Hillsborough, CA.

Nancy attended Hillsborough School, San Mateo High School, and graduated from Stanford University in 1948, where she majored in Geography. It was at Stanford where she met Lane; they were married after her sophomore year in 1946.

In 1950 Lane Jr. (Cary) was born and Lynn Patricia followed in 1955. Nancy was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Saratoga in 1965. Having recently received her teaching credential from San Jose State University, she then started her teaching career. Nancy taught elementary school at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Saratoga and at Carden el Encanto School in Santa Clara.

The Tronsons previously lived in Menlo Park and Redwood City and were members of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. The family moved to Saratoga in 1965 where they became pillars of the recently formed Saratoga Presbyterian Church. They hosted Sunday School classes in their home until the church buildings and classrooms were completed and let their backyard/pool be used for many events. They were consistent parts of bible studies and social and outreach events at the church.

Nancy attended the very first game played by the San Francisco Giants and was a devoted fan ever since. She and Lane also were season ticket holders for many years of the Stanford football and basketball teams.

Nancy always believed in being active in the community and helping through volunteer work which she was able to increase after retirement. She served with Saratoga Presbyterian Church’s Homeless Ministry to InnVision’s Julian Street/Commercial Street Inns, regularly serving meals to the homeless and food insecure in San Jose, never missing a time in 19 years. She led tours at Filoli and Hakone Gardens. Some of the more recent organizations in which she was active were InnerWheel / Saratoga Rotary, Good Samaritan Auxiliary, Foothill Club, and Friends of the Saratoga Library. In addition, she was also involved in community and church bible studies.

The Tronsons spent many happy vacations at the family cabin in Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe, traveling to World Fairs and visiting extended families.

Once they became empty nesters, Nancy and Lane traveled the world. For several decades they enjoyed annual trips to relax (reading mysteries ) on the beach in Mexico as well as cruises and foreign travels with her sisters, other organizations and friends. Her last 2 trips were to take the family on an Alaskan cruise and a cruise to the South Pacific with Lynn.

Nancy enjoyed and will be remembered by many for her practice of sending cards for birthdays and anniversaries to a long list of friends and family.

Nancy is survived by her two children Lane Carroll Tronson (Cary) and Lynn Tronson Relyea, grandchildren Zoe Tronson, Eric Cuneo, April Allenbrand and great grandchildren Justin Cuneo, Ian Riley Cuneo, Ty Allenbrand and Chase Allenbrand.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26th, at 10am at Menlo Church Saratoga 20455 Herriman Ave, Saratoga, CA 95070.
