Ronald H. Ohlfs, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, engineer, avid backpacker and table tennis enthusiast, passed away peacefully at his home in Cupertino, CA, on March 20, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Longview, WA, on June 4, 1938, Ron was a man of sharp intellect, quiet determination, and a deep love for both family and community.  Following his BSEE ('60) and MSEE ('62) from Santa Clara University, Ron's career as a Principal Electrical Engineer in RF communications was marked by excellence and ingenuity, leaving a lasting impact on the field. Beyond his professional achievements, Ron had a passion for the YMCA and table tennis, founding the West Side Table Tennis (WSATT) program over two decades ago—a community that continues to thrive and bring people together.

Ron's greatest pride, however, was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Ohlfs, and his five children: Mike, Keith (dec 10/26/16), Diane, Kurt, and Brett. He was a cherished grandfather to a dozen grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to two.  His wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga on April 5th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga in support of the WSATT program or Santa Clara University in his memory.

Ron's legacy of curiosity, kindness, and love for both engineering and community will continue to inspire generations to come.
