Afsar "Farzaneh" Varzandeh (1935 – 2018)

Afsar "Farzaneh" Varzandeh, 82 years old, of San Jose, CA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018. Afsar was born in Tehran, Iran, on March 13, 1935 to Habib and Mehri Varzandeh. Afsar married Akbar Sahbaee in 1949 and had one son, Parviz Sahbaee. In 1978 she married Hossein Dardashtian and gained 2 sons (Hamid and Hamed) and a daughter (Fariba).

Afsar was a renowned singer for over 50 years, on radio in Iran, at restaurants and private functions in the United States. She also loved children and ran her own private daycare for several years in Fremont, CA. Though she suffered many illnesses over the years, she always had a smile for people, but especially for her grandchildren. She was a kind lady.

Afsar is survived by her loving husband, Hossein Dardashtian. It is good that Afsar loved children because she leaves behind 4 children: Parviz (Addie) Sahbaee, Hamid (Mariam) Dardashtian, Hamed (Rezvan) Dardashtian, Fariba (Mohammad) Boujar; 9 grandchildren: Amin Boujar, Alexander Arya Sahbaee, Mohsen (Shahrzad) Boujar, Tayebeh (Hasan) Boujar, Mahdi (Sara) Dardashtian, Nicole Negeen Sahbaee, Mohammad Ali Dardashtian, Zeinab Dardashtian, Amir Hosein Dardashtian and one great-grandchild Ali Dardashtian. They will miss her smile and loving kisses. Afsar is also survived by 2 sisters: Ashraf (Essi) Ghamgosar of San Mateo, CA and Azar Rahmini of Tehran, Iran and 1 brother, Jamshid Varzandeh of Tehran, Iran; a nephew Ali (Joy) Ghamgosar and their son Dario of San Mateo, CA, and a host of nephews and nieces abroad.

Viewing for Afsar Varzandeh will be on Tuesday, March 6 ^th , at Alameda Family Funeral Home in Saratoga, between 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, March 7 ^th , at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, from 11:00am – 12:00noon, at the graveside, officiated by Hamed Dardashtian. Pallbearers will be her son Parviz Sahbaee and 5 grandsons. The repast luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 13 ^th , at Negeen Restaurant in Campbell (RSVP only). The 13 ^th is Afsar's birthday and her husband, Hossein, wanted to celebrate her life on the date of her birth.
