Obituary

Alexander Matlosz-Cox

Alexander Matlosz-Cox died at home on April 29, 2016 in his mother's arms following a long and courageous battle with Osteosarcoma, a bone cancer.

"Alex" was born November 22, 1996 in San Jose CA. He graduated from Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, and was accepted into Seattle Pacific University among others. Alex's life was far too short but Alex and those who knew him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile could melt the hearts of those around him and his quick wit and unique sense of humor brought laughter to many. He graced us with his outgoing personality and through his battle showed us all the true meaning of the words "strength", "courage" and "determination".

Alex possessed the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. He reminded us that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create wonderful memories. He enjoyed traveling, music, reading, video gaming, social media and martial arts . Alex was fortunate to have many wonderful adventures with his mother traveling throughout his life. He was able to visit Europe, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska and more. He was a frequent cruise passenger earning 3 star Mariner status with Holland America Cruise Lines, of which he was very proud. He knew how to live and he did so with great enthusiasm. In his short time with us he had many experiences that some people never have in a lifetime, a few of which included items from his "bucket list" like flying an airplane, meeting a favorite author and actor, and many more. Alex inspired a community on his journey and he was loved by many.

With Alex's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his radiant smile and unique personality, he will forever remain in our hearts. We were able to create wonderful memories together with Alex and we are blessed to have been a part of his life.

Alex is survived by his loving mother, Bobbie J. Cox of San Jose, CA and father Andrzej B. Matlosz of San Jose, CA.
