Allen Steward Baughman was born in Dearborn Michigan to Steward and Florence Baughman, and grew-up with two older brothers, Joe and Charlie (now deceased) and two younger, surviving brothers Dick and Tom.

As a boy, Allen was fascinated with Ford Motor Company's historic Rouge Plant located close by his boyhood home where his father worked, and eventually where his older brothers and he himself ultimately would as well. He fondly recalled often climbing a nearby hill with his buddies to watch Henry Ford unveil new vehicles as they rolled off the assembly-line. In his early teen years Allen worked at Henry Ford's luxurious Dearborn Inn as a bellhop, where he was once thrilled to meet Walt Disney.  He asked Mr. Disney to draw him Mickey Mouse, which he did on a napkin and signed it. However, upon returning home after the Korean War, Allen was devastated to find the priceless treasure had been removed from his dresser drawer, never to be found again. Later he was also honored to serve as chauffer to Mrs. Olds, the wife of Oldsmobile founder Ransom Olds.

After challenging times at a boarding school during his high school years, Allen served proudly in the Korean War, from 1947 for three years, primarily as head baker on a frigate. Upon returning home, Allen married his first wife Norma Southard, with whom he had three children Janny, Mike and Carol. They lived in a home, which he built virtually single-handedly, while working at Ford's Rouge Plant for many years -- first as a plumber and then gradually working his way up to Assembly-line Manager.

By 1961, Ford Motor Company had built a plant in Milpitas CA., and in 1963 Allen jumped at the opportunity to escape the frigid Michigan winters and move with his family to Santa Clara Valley, CA. Being blessed with the Midas-touch, the ability to fix anything, and boundless energy, he began investing in Real Estate… both at a time and in a location which could not have been more fortuitous. It didn't take long before Allen had acquired several rental properties in Santa Clara Valley. Eventually, through much hard work and diligence, Allen and Norma found themselves blessed with significant savings, and being incredibly loving and dedicated parents, discussed how "you can't take it with you", which led them to generously bestow upon each of their grown children more than enough for them to get ahead.

After over 35 years with Ford, Allen retired. It was in 1990 that the County of Santa Clara then made him an offer he couldn't refuse… overseeing various facilities as a plumber and maintenance supervisor. Five years later he was able to retire from there, now with two pensions, and primarily focus on managing and maintaining his real estate holdings, while enjoying life with his wife, kids and grandkids.

Allen's first wife Norma passed away in 2002, and a few years later Allen met Carol Daray through a mutual acquaintance. Carol had also lost her long-time husband Ed a year or two earlier, and soon Allen's "blue eyes" led to a new and enduring love. Her family immediately recognized Allen as a truly warm and caring person, not to mention a wonderful companion to Carol, and quickly embraced him as their own. Allen and Carol were married in 2007 and moved into Carol's home in Los Gatos, CA. For several months before Allen died, Carol Jean's boyfriend Rich had become his daily support person, while she, her daughter Emily and fiancé Mev, as well as her son Charlie (all of whom lived relatively close by) were always there to help out and provide love and support for both Carol and Allen. Allen died somewhat suddenly, yet quite peacefully, surrounded by his wife Carol, her daughter Linda and her husband Frank, as well as Carol and Allen's caregiver Jasmine.

Aside from his biological children, Allen is survived by his Grandchildren Travis, Lea, Nicole, Brent, Danielle, Dustin and Connor, and Great-granddaughter Mikayla. On his wife Carol's side, Allen is survived by her loving children Linda Newman, Carol Jean Daray and Edward Daray, as well as grandchildren (Linda's children) Luke Newman, Jessica Coslett, and Daniel Newman, by (Carol Jean's children) Emily Hutchings, and Charlie Hutchings, and (Edward's daughter) Alexandra Jacobson. Also on his wife Carol's side, Allen's surviving Great-grandchildren are (Luke Newman's children) Jonah, Kate, Annie and Everett, and (Jessica Coslett's biological children) Jack, Benjamin and Claire, and finally Edward Daray's Grandson (Alexandra's son) Ansel.

A Memorial Celebration of Allen's life is to be held at a later date to be determined, in the Spring or Summer 2025.
