Captain William
Alexander Grant
May 30, 1932 — Apr 11, 2023
Saratoga
William "Bill" Grant lived an incredible life of 90 years. He was born in Chicago, moved, and lived in the Bay Area. Bill graduated from San Francisco State and met and married his best friend, Barbara. They were married for 64.5 years and had two daughters, Bonnie and Mary. Bill joined the US Airforce as a pilot after college. After the Airforce Bill became a pilot for 33 years for United Airlines. After retirement, Bill loved cruising the Bay and Delta on his yacht, the Dolly 2. He enjoyed playing golf every Friday with his friends. He was also an active member of his local Senior in Retirement (SIRs) organization and enjoyed a term being Big SIR. Trains were also a cherished hobby for Bill, and he spent a lot of time with his garden railroad.
Family meant everything to Bill. He loved spending time with his immediate and extended family, including many beloved dogs. He was a great storyteller and always had everyone in tears of laughter. His legacy is his infectious laugh, sense of humor, and generous heart.
His memories will live on, and he is always in our hearts.
