Carl August Brandt Sr., 80, of San Jose, California, passed away on April 15, 2017.

Carl was born in Maine on November 18, 1936. He married Sheila Brandt ﴾Li﴿ on October 23, 1969 in Hong Kong, China.

Carl enlisted in the United States military in 1954 at the ripe age of 18. He served as an Electrical Engineer for 22 years before he retired in January of 1977 as an E‐7, Chief Petty Officer, in the U.S. Coast Guard. During his time in the U.S.

Coast Guard, Carl received the following awards: Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Antarctic Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal ﴾2﴿, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Navy Occupation Service Medal, and the authorization to permanently wear the Coast Guard Cutterman Insignia.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila. Carl is survived by his three children, Cici, James, and Carl Jr.; his nine grandchildren Tiana andhusband Shane Jennings, Victoria, Joseph, Jade, Keilani, Ehan, Kianna, and Matthew; his three great grandchildren Jayden, Kadence, and Kacen; and the rest of his family and friends.

The visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on April 29, 2017 at the Alameda Family Funeral and Cremation, Inc. in Saratoga. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM.
