Obituary

The youngest child of Italian immigrants Anthony Perfetto and Mathilda Perfetto (née Cervone), she was born Charlotte Ann Perfetto on February 18, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Perfetto family – father, mother, and brothers Bob, Henry, and Bernie – lived in Pittsburgh all of Charlotte's young life.

After high school Charlotte attended the nursing program at Duquesne University and upon graduation worked for the National Institutes of Health, first in the pediatric cancer ward and then in the blood bank. Both of these roles combined advanced research with direct patient care.

After meeting Harry Kline in Washington, DC, she moved to California to be with him. They were married on July 10, 1971. She became an operating room nurse at Stanford University. She put her career on hold when she became pregnant with her first child, Erik Marcus Kline, followed two years later by her second, Aaron Scott Kline. While the boys were going to grade school she actively supported the school by creating a hot lunch program, the proceeds of which purchased a number of computers for the school – the first program of its kind. During their high school years she volunteered as a nurse for their school. When they entered college she resumed her career, this time as a pediatric nurse.

She lived in Saratoga, CA for 47 years and loved the town, the Bay Area, California, and the entire West Coast. She and Harry loved backpacking in the Sierras, and the entire family took many car camping trips throughout the west.

She will be dearly missed.
