Christopher K. Vaughan, a software engineer age 78, died in the early hours of January 2, 2024 in Saratoga, CA.

Chris was born in Weston, Massachusetts on October 20, 1945 to Dr. Warren T. Vaughan, Jr. and Cecil K. Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was raised in Massachusetts; after finishing high school he moved to Colorado to attend college at Colorado State University, Boulder.

Mr. Vaughan was a bilingual Spanish speaker. While attending college, he moved to Peru to teach English in the city of Huancayo. After his return to Colorado, he completed his Masters degree in Geography. He moved to the state of California to work for the State of California and other private companies. A few years later, Chris decided to go back to school and trained as a Software Engineer, working for companies such as Cisco Systems.

In 1986 Mr. Vaughan married Dr. Carmen Roman, a Peruvian physician. They raised their daughter, Rosalind, in Emerald Hills, CA. Mr. Vaughan was a race car driver and a sports writer; he was a member of the Motor Sports Press Association. Other sports he enjoyed were hiking and skiing.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dr. Carmen Roman Vaughan, his daughter Rosalind Vaughan, and grandchildren Charlie (6 yrs), Aksel (1 yr), and Athena (5 months); also brother Richard Vaughan and sister Jennifer Vaughan.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 11 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 300 Fulton St., Redwood City, CA. Reception following at:  2445 Park Rd., Emerald Hills, CA.

The family prefer donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Vaughan's daughter, Rosalind, writes:

"He was a reserved family man, and always did the right thing for the ones close to him. He was interested in maps, Greek mythology and books. He was an avid adventurer, and drove from Peru to the U.S., drove race cars, and learned computer science along the way. He felt connected with the supernatural and believed in aliens. He was always authentically himself and never strayed from his own values. He was an adored father to Rosalind Vaughan, and a consistent and loving husband to Carmen Roman; he is survived by them both".
