Obituary

Delores "Dotty" Rivers Sieve passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at home, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dotty was born in Charleston, S.C. on October 14, 1936 where she grew up and received her education. On July 4, 1958 she met Lt. Richard Sieve, an Air Force navigator who was stationed there. They were married the following year. Two years later, her husband left the Air Force to pursue a medical education. This took them to St. Paul, MN; Milwaukee, WI; Seattle, WA; Bakersfield, CA; and finally to Saratoga, CA, where they have lived for the past 47 years.

Dotty managed her husband's medical practice for over 25 years, where she patiently listened and offered guidance to the many patients she came to know over the years. She was a published writer of romance stories, an interior decorator, painter, and loved to cook gourmet meals for friends. The Sieve home was host to numerous exchange students throughout the years, many of whom they are still in touch with today. Dotty loved to travel almost anywhere and she usually said "yes" before she knew where she was going. These travels took her to many countries of Europe and South America along with Japan, Mexico and Canada. Since Dotty grew up on the beach, she had a lifelong love of the ocean and spent many vacations on beaches around the South and in California.

She loved talking with teenagers who often showed up on her doorstep seeking her guidance. She will be missed tremendously and remembered for her kindness, generosity, and joyful demeanor.

Dotty is survived by Richard, her husband of 58 years; her daughter Yvonne Sieve Cook (Gary), Cheryl Lynn Lowe (Martin), and Wayne Sieve (Brita), and her grandchildren, Kathryn Cook; Richard, Christian, and Anna Lowe; and Madeline, Charlotte, and Jack Sieve.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
