Dimitri Al
Baker
Sep 4, 1936 — Oct 20, 2022
Sunnyvale
On Thursday October 20, 2022, Dimitri Al Baker of Sunnyvale California, passed away surrounded by his loving family at the age of 86.
Dimitri is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Roxana, children Laurel Zicovich and Darryl Baker, sister Isabel Turk, brother Donald Baker, grandchildren Jack Zicovich, and Zachary Baker. He was preceded by his parents Al and Violet Baker and brother-in-law Theodore Turk.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dimitri possessed an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age beginning with a paper route, then bagging groceries and collecting tips from his favorite customers at Ralphs supermarket. He then honed his love of sales working at his dads used car lot while still in school. After graduating high school, he served in the US Navy for two years, came home, met and married the love of his life, Roxana. They soon moved to Burlingame CA, in 1960, where Dimitri took over managing the Burlingame division of Law Printing, selling legal forms to car dealerships. During that time, in 1961 they welcomed their first child. In 1964, moved to Sunnyvale, CA where they welcomed their second child. His career at Law Printing spanned over 30 years which then led to his creating a niche in the automotive industry selling license plate frames and promotional items to dealerships in the northern California area until his retirement at the ripe old age of 80.
Dimitri was most passionate about family, work, and the USC Trojan football team. For years he attended every SC football game enjoying the comradery at the tailgates and in the stands. He was known to strike up a conversation with strangers no matter where he went. He was an avid golfer, loved the beach and falling asleep listening to the crashing waves. His generous and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
