Don passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family, at the age of 87.

He was born in Ocean Park, CA. He lived at a Catholic boarding school from ages 5 to 14. Don was extremely intelligent so the school decided to have him skip one grade forward. Immediately after graduating high school, he entered the US Navy at age 17. He served aboard submarines from 1947-1953. He was in the Korean War. Don was on one of only two submarines to see action in the war and receive Battle Dolphins. Don competed in boxing at the Navy and had an undefeated record of 19-0. After the Navy, Don attended San Diego State University, graduating with a BA in Business. He did post graduate work at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

After graduation, Don started his life long career as an individual salesperson in life and health insurance. He eventually joined Reserve Life Insurance Company. Don rose very quickly within the company to become Regional Vice President, where he supervised 36 District Offices with over 500 agents. Don guided his region to multiple national sales awards and set company records for growth. Looking for the next challenge, Don decided to start his own company, Campbell Enterprises Insurance Marketing. As CEO of his new company, he started with only 3 agents and his wife Lynda as his secretary. Don grew his company nationally to have over 2,000 agents appointed in 44 states. His company won numerous sales awards and was number one in production in the entire US several times. After over 50 years in the insurance business, he retired in 2007. Don was also a past President of the Campbell, CA Rotary Club.

Don was a lifetime member of Dolphin Base Submarine Club. He enjoyed reading many books including favorites by Louis L'Amour and Tom Clancy. He loved watching football on Sundays and rooting for his favorite team the San Francisco 49ers. Don and his wife Lynda bred and showed Siamese championship cats and won many national awards. Don also owned a thoroughbred horse racing farm with 52 horses located in Modesto. The horses raced at Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields, earning many wins. Don enjoyed traveling including many family trips to the Caribbean and Hawaii. Don and his immediate family all took Karate lessons at the same time, competing in and winning many tournaments.

Don was very kind and generous. His family meant everything to him and was always a priority. Don will be dearly missed. He is survived by the love of his life Lynda, wife of 51 years, son Don Jr. of San Jose, CA, daughter Christal of Paradise, CA. He was preceded in death by his sister Darlene Finn.

The funeral service and celebration of life at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 12770 Saratoga Ave., Saratoga, CA 95070 on Saturday October 21 at 11AM. Immediately following the service will be a graveside ceremony with military honors at Madronia Cemetery, 14766 Oak St., Saratoga, CA, 95070.
