Donald H. Johnson, age 86, of Saratoga, CA passed away at home surrounded by members of his family on Friday, November 17, 2017. He was a long time resident of Saratoga, CA. Donald was born on Monday, August 3, 1931 and raised in Hillsboro, OR. He graduated from Scappoose High School in 1949 and went on to achieve his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Portland and his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Santa Clara. Donald valiantly served our country in the United Stated Air Force. He was stationed in Las Vegas while in the service and served one tour of duty over in Korea where he received the Korean Service Medal. Donald completed his education after the war and settled in Saratoga, CA. He took a position at Lockheed in Sunnyvale, CA where he worked on large satellite programs. Donald retired several years ago, after 36 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, sports, and his biggest passion was his family. Donald was a member of Church of the Ascension in Saratoga, CA. He was Past President of the Pastoral Council and Past President of the Men's Club at Church of the Ascension. Donald was a member of Sons In Retirement (SIR) Westgate Branch 125 and held multiple roles as Big SIR, Little SIR, Secretary and Director. Donald was also a member of the Lockheed Martin Management Association Retirees (LMMAR).
Donald was preceeded in death by his parents Toge and Nora Johnson; his brother, Toge Phillip Johnson; his sister, Myja Noreen McAllister and her husband Lee McAllister; his brother, Franklin David Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Sally Johnson; his daughter, Sharon (Terrance) McElveny; his daughter, Sheila Johnson; his daughter, Shelley (Brian) Strehlke; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Sade) Strehlke, Marcus Strehlke, Shannon (Scott) Dreier, Serena Strehlke, Alexander Strehlke, Megan McElveny, and Aaron McElveny; and his great grandchildren, Harrison Strehlke and Lilly Anne Strehlke; and numerous extended family and friends.
Donald will be laid to rest at a private service at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you may honor Donald by donating to the America Heart Association 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75231, phone number 1-800-242-8721. Donald touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Rosary will be held at 10:30 am and Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Church of the Ascension 12033 Miller Avenue, Saratoga, CA 95070.
