Doris Nasmeh
Bliven
May 17, 1936 — Jan 11, 2024
San Martin
Doris Ann Nasmeh-Bliven (Born Doris Ann Gansen) left this world on January 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Doris is survived by her husband David Bliven and her brother William Gansen. Doris is also survived and deeply missed by her two children, her husband's children, her many friends, grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews from California, Michigan, Idaho, Newport Beach and around the world.
Born May 17, 1936, in Dearborn, Michigan to Mary Frances (Esper) Gansen and Raymond Joseph Gansen she was the youngest of four children. Veronica, John, William, and Doris whom were all the salt of the earth.
While working as a model for the Ford Modeling Agency in Dearborn, Doris met Sam Nasmeh who was employed at Ford Motor Company. They began dating and Sam spoiled her with chivalry, fine dining, and dancing the evenings away in Chicago. Doris stated that traveling to Chicago was the way to impress your date in those days. Sam explained how he used to tip the maître d' with a closed palm to arrange dinner service for Doris at the restricted piano bar.
In the late 1950's, Sam and Doris moved from Dearborn, Michigan to Cupertino, California to accept a new position with Lockheed Missiles & Space.
Doris and Sam purchased a new Krump Homebuilder's property on Regnart Road in Cupertino for $32,100 and started growing their family of three children in 1961. Doris lost Sam to pulmonary issues in 1990.
Doris enjoyed two more marriages before stepping off of the dance floor in January of this year.
The second marriage was with Mr. Ralph Blake who was an established gentleman whom wined and dined Doris and her extended family with celebrations at The La Rinconada Country Club in Saratoga. From evening dinners, rounds of golf, Christmas parties, and Easter egg hunts with brunches thereafter. Ralph, Doris and the Blake Family visits back East memorialized many good times.
Travel was always one of Doris and Ralph's passions. Trips around the globe with suitcases full of formal evening wear for dinner parties and dancing enhanced their joy of life together until Mr. Blake's passing.
Doris' third husband Dave Bliven met Doris through family and shared life together for the last 28 years. Mr. Bliven holds a passion for sailing and travel. Some of the couple's time together was spent on the open sea in the couple's sail boat and at the Seqouia Yacht Club in Redwood City. Doris and Dave moved to San Martin in 2011 where they owned their home until Doris' passing.
Doris loved her friends and family. Vivian, Merta, Maria, Ronnie, Virginia, Pam, Lisa, Kathy, Helen, Souad, Mary, her many nieces and nephews and many other including her Saint Joseph's of Cupertino choir members formed a group of friends and family. Simply put, their get-togethers filled every room with laughter. Naturally, a good glass of Chardonnay was a welcomed elixir at many gatherings. Please join us in a toast to Doris! Rest in peace wife, mother, friend, aunt and grandmother!
