It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Korhonen Matthews announces her passing after a brief illness on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the age of 88 years. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children:  twin sons Dean (Patricia) and Mark (Vonnie), daughter Nadie Lee Matthews Koerber (Jim), son Scott, daughter Adrienne Matthews Gemberling (Ronald, MD) and four nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of nearly 59 years Herbert Mehlin Matthews, MD.  They moved to California in 1954 shortly after marrying.  They settled into their present home in Saratoga with the five children in 1960.

Dorothy was involved in many volunteer organizations; including the American Heart Association, Santa Clara County Medical Association Auxiliary/Alliance, Montalvo Service Group, Foothill Club of Saratoga and Filoli Estate.

Dorothy and Herb traveled extensively in Europe and the South Pacific.  They enjoyed their home at The Sea Ranch in Sonoma County for many decades.  More recently, they spent time in the winter at Terrasol in Cabo San Lucas.

Many friends will remember Dorothy for her passion and knowledge of jade and pearls and her jewelry shows.

The family had private services for their mother.
