Born March 24, 1929 on the Island of Curacao, Netherlands Antillies.
Didi lost her mother when she was about 7 or 8 years old, she was brought up by a French aunt and uncle who came from France
before the start of WWII. When Didi came of age she worked in her father's store selling fabric by the meter.
Educated in the Dutch schools on the island, she first spoke Spanish at home, then French with her aunt and began Dutch in school. It wasn't until about the sixth grade when she began learning English. Then there was the local language of the islands, Papiamento. Didi had a flair for languages and she became fluent in all five tongues.
Having lost her vision soon after losing her mother she became a member of the Rosicrucian Order searching for answers to life's great questions.
Didi came to San Jose in 1960 to the annual Convention of Rosicrucian's, where she met her future husband Cy Esty. They were married the following year In August of 1961. This past August they completed 59 years together.
Didi is survived by her husband Cyril "Cy" Esty,
and Nephews, Joel Amon, Max Amon, Greg Dearden, Paul Dearden and
Nieces, Mariella Amon, Audrey Henderson, Bethany Robach, Kay Carr, Joan Mello
