Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Taylor Parden was born on May 27, 1927 in San Francisco, CA to Mary Sicocan Taylor and John Felton Taylor, MD.

Betty passed away peacefully at her family home in Saratoga, lifted-up by her faith and surrounded by family on July 7, 2018.

Betty graduated from Santa Clara High School and San Francisco's Lone Mountain College. Her interest in childhood development lead her to establish and operate Play Plan Preschool.  In 1955 Betty wed Dr. Robert Parden and settled in Saratoga in the home she and Bob loved and designed. In addition to raising her own family, Betty was one of the principal matriarchs of her large extended Santa Clara Valley family and hosted many celebrations that will be remembered fondly for generations to come.  Betty's proudest legacy is her loving family.

In her "spare time" Betty was active with world travel, bridge, golf, the Eucharistic ministry and other charitable organizations which she cherished at Sacred Heart Parish.

She was preceded in death by "Bob", her beloved husband of 59 years and siblings Mary Margaret Taylor, Jack Taylor, twin George "Bud" Taylor, and Joan Taylor Formico. She is survived by children Pattie Bradley, Jim Parden (Lisa), Jack Parden (Mary), and Nancy Badgett (Mel), grandchildren Scott, Matt, Ann, Robert, Sara, Noelle, Sean, James and Grant. "Aunt Betty" leaves a large and dearly loved collection of "angels" that includes a multitude of nieces, nephews and their growing families.  Betty's personal attendant Marina Marquez provided care for the past several years, for which the family is grateful.

Many lived in the grace of this thoughtful, caring and effervescent woman. Whether you called her Mom, G-Mom or Aunt Betty, she will be missed and forever loved.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on July 12, 2018 at ten o'clock with a reception immediately following.  A private interment will be held at Madronna Cemetery in Saratoga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Carmelite Monastery of San Francisco - 1000 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA 95050-5285.  For further details and an online guest book for letters of condolence: www.funeralcremation.com
