Frank C. Dinapoli passed away at his home on June 25, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born in San Jose on November 9, 1926. He attended Campbell Grammar School and graduated from Campbell High School in 1944.

Soon after his graduation he enlisted in WWII in the US Coast Guard as an officer in the Merchant Marines serving as a radio operator in the South Pacific. Upon his return he enrolled at San Jose State University. To earn tuition he built fruit dehydrators and worked for his future father-in-law's janitorial services company.
Graduating in 1952 as an electrical engineer he began his career working for a new company called Varian Associates. He worked there for the next 37 years in the Klystron and Coupled Cavity TWT divisions. His hard work and dedication proved successful as he was awarded several patents for his development and design of many microwave amplifier devices. His work was influential in allowing NASA to communicate with the astronauts in the US space program.

He had a lifelong interest in aviation which included building and flying radio controlled airplanes and helicopters. In his back-of-the-garage machine shop he built various scaled steam and gas powered engines taking pride in the details and precision movements of the many parts. He became proficient in the processes of sand casting aluminum and plastic molding of his own parts. He also enjoyed building classic Mississippi river paddle boats. In his later years he became an accomplished water color painter. He spent many relaxing hours enjoying his various hobbies.

As a child he met his future wife, Daisy Scarlazzari, and renewed their friendship after his military service. They were married for 61 years before she passed away. He is survived by his children Dianne (Leo) Doughty, Paul, Mark (Joan) and Adrienne (Roy) DiVittorio, his grandchildren Katie, Beau (Kelly), Jennifer, Danielle, John and Olivia, sister Jean (Rocci) Enfantino, and sister in law Alice Cligny.
Our family want to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks for his care givers, Nellie Munoz, Berta Vasquez, Martha Munoz, Nora Oduor and Maria Chavez . Their concern and tireless efforts will always be appreciated and remembered.

A celebratory mass will be held at St. Christopher's Church at 1576 Curtner Ave, San Jose, Ca 95125 on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00 am. A private internment has been held. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave., San Jose, CA 95124.
