Frank Matas, 84, passed peacefully on January 4, 2016, at Herman Health Care Center in San Jose, California. Frank was born in San Francisco, to John & Carnation Matas who immigrated to the USA from Malaga, Spain in 1907. He lived in San Francisco with his two sisters & brother until he joined the Navy in 1950. He served in the Korean War until 1954, & married Letha Henslee in 1955. He was a resident of Saratoga for 46 years, & had his own weather stripping and hardwood floor business. Frank loved to laugh & to make others laugh. His greatest joy was spending time with his family & fishing/hunting with his buddies. He was a member of Saratoga Federated Church for 44 years & is now with his Lord in heaven. Frank was proud of his Spanish heritage & loved to tell stories about the "good ole days" in San Francisco. He is survived by his wife, Letha Matas, of 61 years; 5 children: Candy (David) Pina, Cindy (Dave) Kahre, Jon (Cheri) Matas, Missy Matas, Patrick Matas; 7 grandchildren: Sean (Christina) Leahy, Megan (Lance) DeHaan, Kristin (Ian) Mansfield, Jarrod Kahre, Hailey & Kylie Matas, Daniel (Carolyn) Pina; & 4 great-grandchildren. Family & friends are invited to attend a service in celebration of his life at 1 P.M. Saturday, Feb 27th, Saratoga Federated Church: 14370 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga, CA.
