Frederick Lawrence
Keck
Apr 14, 1927 — Nov 24, 2020
Saratoga
Into God's and his wife's loving arms, Frederick (Fred) passed away peacefully with family by his side at home. He was a very intelligent man that was dedicated to his family.
Fred was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enlisted in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program serving in World War II. After his service, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a master's degree in chemical engineering. While working at 3M, his product development led to many patents in his name. After moving to California, he worked for Lockheed Martin for 30 years developing chemical compounds including specialized foam for deep sea submersible vehicles.
He met and married the love of his life, Peg and spent time in Michigan and Minnesota before moving to Saratoga, California. Fred was a devoted father who was involved in Indian Guides, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Saratoga High School Music Boosters. He was always on the field or in the stands cheering on his children and then his grandchildren. After retirement, Fred and Peg enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and seeing many different countries. Fred also liked playing cribbage with his friends, bowling, and going to garage sales.
Fred is survived by his sister Julia Roberts of Portage, Michigan and his loving children Sara Buse (Richard) of Columbus, IN, Marjo Klein (Kevin) San Jose, Patricia Gasvoda (Michael) of Los Gatos, William Keck (Dee Anna) of Grass Valley, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was to share his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren. He will be forever in our hearts. Fred requested no services so to honor him – go fishing. We ask you to cast a line out for him.
