Gail Donald Hall was born on February 16, 1935, in Santa Ana, California to his mother and father, Marjorie Reed and Donald Hall, respectively. Gail is survived by his brothers, Lowell (Eleanor) and John (Joanne), his three children, Mark, Michael (Dan) and Melinda (Curtis), his grandchildren Dailynn, Cory, Tracy (Maya), and great grandchildren Layla, Arthur, Wallace, and Everly, along with many, many loving nieces, nephews, and friends far and wide.

Gail was the first born, followed by his younger sister Lynda in this union. After Gail's mother and father divorced, his mother Marjorie married Leslie Cummings, and had two additional sons–Lowell and John. Due to life circumstances, Leslie was not very involved in helping raise a household so Gail naturally became a father figure to his little brothers and sister, starting at a very young age. And throughout the years, Gail was devoted to keeping in touch with his step sisters, Lillian and Marion, as well as with his other siblings, and their children. Gail also connected with his father, Donald, visiting him, his wife and sisters in Banning, California over the years.

Gail's early life includes enlisting in the Army right out of high school, where he served in the Korean War as an engineer. While he was stationed in Asia, he had the opportunity to visit Japan and climbed Mt. Fuji where he was able to get a Japanese flag from the summit. He brought this flag home as a treasured keepsake. In 1956, Gail received an honorable discharge and returned to civilian life. Gail worked at Glasspar Boats, and met his future wife, Kathileen (Kay) Sisco. Just prior to the start of their wedding ceremony, Gail realized he had forgotten the wedding ring, so he ran back home and broke a window to retrieve the ring, just in time for their wedding ceremony on July 20, 1956.

Gail and Kathileen welcomed their first son Mark Jeffrey in 1958, followed by Michael Charles in 1961 and Melinda Ann in 1963. Gail was an exceptional and loving father to his children, worked very hard to provide for the family, and enjoyed countless afternoon car rides and homemade kite flying on Sundays with his family. Gail had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loved to be by water. He took his family on many great camping trips, including their favorite annual summer camping trips to Trinity Lake, where the family enjoyed boating, water skiing, hiking, campfires, and target practice–not to mention his famous "tortes." Gail was also an active Cub Scout Indian Guide and Boy Scout Leader and attended numerous school band concerts, choir performances and school plays.

In the mid-60's, Gail worked as a store manager for Alpha Beta Markets and was recruited by Allstate Insurance in the early 70's. He had a meteoric rise in his career at Allstate ending with the creation and operation of the Allstate Agent Training Center in Northbrook, Illinois. Gail allowed many promotion opportunities to pass by in order to keep his family together in the school district and neighborhood they were raised in. It wasn't until Gail's youngest child graduated from high school that he accepted a promotion.

With Allstate, Gail and Kay moved to Saratoga, California and enjoyed a beautiful home in the "golden triangle." While living in Northern California, their first grandchild,

Jarad was born in 1989 to Mark and Sherry.

After all the kids left the nest, Allstate offered a promotion that brought Gail and Kay to Barrington, Illinois. They enjoyed their custom-built home there where they spent the next four years, until Gail accepted an early retirement offer from Allstate.

Happy to return to California, Gail and Kay left their home in Illinois and bought a home near Folsom Lake, Folsom, California where Gail enjoyed cruising the lake on his Regal boat as well as daily runs along the Folsom Lake Dam. Gail and Kay's other grandchildren were born during this time: Dailynn (1998) to Mark and Sherry, Cory (1991) and Tracy (1994) were born to Melinda and Curtis.  Gail's unstoppable energy inspired him to take a break from early retirement and take another position at AD Banker in Southern California, where he commuted each week, racking up the airline miles. He worked for AD Banker until he was 80 years old.

Gail and Kay divorced in 2003 and they each had a home built in the Del Webb Community in Lincoln, California. They lived separately, but remained close friends for the rest of their lives.

After Gail was diagnosed with Parkinson's, his son Mike collaborated with his mother, father and power of attorney to help his parents' financial and health affairs, since they were no longer able to. Due to their decline of health, Mike and his husband Dan, took complete charge and responsibility for Gail and Kay's life affairs, and helped facilitate Gail and Kay's move to Scotts Valley, so that Mike and Dan could be closer to them and give them the ongoing care they needed. Mike had the task to facilitate the sale of Gail's dream home in Del Webb, in order to purchase a home for Gail in Scotts Valley, California.

After a few years of enjoying the coastal life, Mike and Dan made the difficult decision to move both Gail and Kay to an assisted living facility in San Jose, California, for 24 hour care. Shortly after that move, Kay passed away on October 26, 2023. This was a tremendous hard loss on Gail and shortly after, ended up in ICU, and then hospice care in December of 2023. Soon it became apparent that Gail needed to be closer to Mike again and was relocated to Santa Cruz Post Acute. Due to the excellent care Gail received, his health improved to the point where he was removed from hospice and was able to have physical therapy and several wonderful outings with Mike and Dan for the next year until his health again declined, passing away on January 28, 2025.

Gail's children share that their father taught them the value of working hard, fulfilling commitments made, and to harbor a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors.

Gail leaves an unforgettable legacy of joy, kindness, integrity, honesty, humor and love to everyone who had the blessing to meet him. Gail will be deeply missed and forever loved.
