Gail Brooks
Jones
Aug 17, 1949 — Sep 10, 2021
The world lost a beloved mother and wife, Gail Jones, on September 10, 2021 after an 8 year battle with melanoma. Gail passed away in her home surrounded by her children, Katie and Emily, and her husband, Carl.
Gail was born to the late Byron and Edythe Brooks on August 17, 1949 in Chicago, IL. The first in her family to graduate from college, she earned her BS in Home Economics from Colorado State University in 1971.
Family meant everything to Gail, and like the sun at the center of her family's universe, she was the one around whom they all revolved. She devoted her life to her children, leaving her job as benefits manager at age 36 when Katie, her oldest, was born. She was so proud of the people Katie and Emily had become and will be in the future.
Gail's favorite color, yellow, captures the brightness and warmth of her spirit. She had a big, beautiful smile and a joyful, contagious laugh. She was incredibly kind and thoughtful, and always strove to find ways to make others' lives better.
Gail will be dearly missed by the so many of us who loved her, especially her husband of 46 years, Carl; her two children: Katie Jones (husband, Dave Donahue), of Seattle, and Emily Chabrier (husband, Matt Chabrier), of New York; and her brother, Byron Brooks, Jr., of Las Vegas.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gail's life at Bethel Lutheran Church (10181 Finch Ave, Cupertino, CA 95014) on Saturday, September 18th at 1:30pm. Guests are invited to wear yellow or other bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation (
www.melanoma.org
) in Gail's name.
