Gregory R. Lynch died of heart failure at his home in Saratoga, CA on July 10, 2017. He had been suffering from a variety of ailments during recent weeks.
He was born and raised in Medford, MA. He attended Malden Catholic High School, received his BS in Chemistry from Tufts, and his Masters from Canisius College. He also attended the Sloan school of Business at MIT.
In 1970, Greg and his family relocated to Saratoga, CA. He was there at the birth of Silicon Valley working for Memorex, Raychem, Karex and Verbatim. His work with Verbatim led to a new and fruitful chapter in his life as he transferred to Limerick, Ireland to head up Verbatim's European operations. He stayed in Ireland for five years before returning back to his home in California.
After Verbatim, he started up his own Company, Memron. He was also responsible for building other magnetic media plants in Saudi Arabia and India.
After Greg retired, he joined SIRS, became a member of The Church of Ascension's Men's Club, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. You could also find him on Thursday nights playing cribbage with a local cribbage club.
His strongest passion, though, was the Serra Club, a Catholic organization devoted to vocations. He rose through the ranks to become the President of the USA Council of Serra International where the highlight of his year as president was celebrating St. Serra's birth on the Isle of Majorca. At the time of his passing, Greg returned to serving as President of his local club in Santa Clara.
He leaves behind his wife, Audry, with whom he was married to for over 60 years. Together they enjoyed the theater, gourmet dining, and traveling to every corner of the globe.
Of all his accomplishments, he was proudest of his children: His daughters Stephanie and Roberta and his son Greg Jr. He was equally proud of his grandchildren and great-grand children: Jenelle, Zachary, Jasmyne, and Jordan.
There will be a Viewing at the Alameda Funeral home in Saratoga on Friday, July 14 9:00 AM-9:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held at the Church of Ascension on Saturday, July 15 at 11:30 AM.
