James (Jim) Duncan Graham was born in San Luis Obispo on September 25, 1928. He was raised in Benicia. He enlisted in the Army on his 18th birthday. Upon his return he attended UC Berkeley, majoring in Business Administration. While attending Cal, he met his future wife, Carolyn. They moved to Saratoga, CA in 1963 and have lived there in their family home for 53 years.
Jim always had a smile on his face and an enthusiastic spirit, always ready for fun no matter what the endeavor. These qualities made him quite a success in Sales. He worked very hard to provide for his family, and both he and his wife Carolyn were delighted when were able to move to Saratoga. Jim enjoyed this quaint little town where he was friends with many.
Jim's cared deeply about his family. He spent time with his boys as a boy scout leader taking the kids on hikes and camping trips to the High Sierra. In fact, when he turned 40, he celebrated the day by climbing Mt. Shasta with some friends. He shared his great sense of humor with everyone in the family, especially his daughter Libby, who greatly appreciated his funny stories, jokes and great wit.
Jim truly lived life to the fullest. He had a wide range of interests and pursuits which included playing tennis and poker with friends, acting in Saratoga Drama Group plays, golfing in his favorite foursome, and he was even a volunteer fireman. He pursued every activity with passion and enthusiasm. He loved and could recite many Robert Burns poems.
Jim's faith was important to him. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He rarely missed Sunday mass and for many years he sang in the church choir.
During Jim and Carolyn's retirement, they went on many trips to Europe and throughout the United States.
Jim especially enjoyed his family, his three children Jim, Libby and Scott; seven grandchildren; Jim Graham, Natalie Seipert, Melissa Seaton, Michelle Graham, Ashley Strong, Robyn and Michael Graham and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Graham.
He will be terribly missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Monday November 21st at Sacred Heart Church, 13716 Saratoga Avenue in Saratoga, CA.
