Jasna Kragalott, 86, former Russian teacher at The Ohio State University and retired supervisor of a translation department at the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a long illness in Santa Clara, California. Her husband Robert Kragalott preceded her in death in 2006. Jasna is survived by her daughter Arden Kragalott, Arden's partner Alison Lopez, son Mark Kragalott, daughter-in-law Michelle Kragalott, and grandson Jack. Jasna was born in 1931 in the former Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (modern Sarajevo, Bosnia). She received a bachelor's degree at Belgrade University in 1952. In 1955, Jasna met her future husband Robert from Canton, Ohio, who was studying for his Doctorate in history. After marrying in Yugoslavia, Robert and Jasna moved to Findlay, Ohio, where Robert taught history at Findlay College and Jasna nurtured their two young children Arden and Mark. After the family settled in Columbus, Ohio, Jasna obtained her Doctorate in Linguistics at Ohio State, began teaching classes at Ohio State, and got a supervisory position in the translation department at Battelle in Columbus. For the next forty years, Jasna raised her family, worked at Battelle, taught classes at Ohio State, sang in the Serbian Orthodox Church choir, and maintained strong relationships with friends and relatives from Columbus, Canton, Pittsburgh, and Serbia. She was delighted with her children's successful careers as well as the birth of her grandchild Jack. All people who knew Jasna will miss her intelligent, caring, and positive personality.
