Jen Yuan YUN ??? passed at 2AM on July 28, 2016 due to pneumonia also affecting his already weakened heart. With a full life of 93 years, he left behind his wife Suzie, 3 sons, David, Dennis and Tyron, 1 step daughter, Ning Ning, 2 step sons, Richard and Ray, and many 3rd and 4th generation children.
He was born on April 15, 1923 in his Chinese ancestral home town of Chang Zhou of Jiang Su province of China ??. His childhood was spent in an extremely tumultuous period in China, where the warlords carved up the country and fought one another year after year. In his teen years the Japanese invaded China and brought more suffering to people. He was lucky to be able to finish college (the highly reputable Jiao Tong University) by the time the victory over Japan ??came in 1945. A year later he married his first wife Marina, who gave him three sons.
His move to Taiwan as the civil war with communist China started, all communications with his hometown Shanghai broke off to the extent that he missed both parents' passing and even the news took weeks to reach him. Yet, he took care of Marina's parents for 7 and 30 years, respectively. He made all the efforts to achieve a successful career for himself in engineering by becoming the General Manager of Taiwan railway materials factory, later 23 years in vibration engineering with Jeffery/Dresser and as a consultant for a long 20+ years in retirement.
His personal life was consistently enriched by two loving and caring wives, Marina (who passed away in 1977) and Suzie, for 32 and 38 years, respectively. He had 3 sons, plus another, Ray Lee (from Suzie) whom he helped through school and college. But the caring support came from the step daughter Ning Ning, who along with wife Suzie, helped him through the 3 years of his weaker days.
His life had been mostly pleasant where he derives joy from (1) good eating ???? (esp. with family), (2) playing Mah Jong ??, (3) travel/cruising with family and (4) Peking opera ??.
More details of his life can be seen in the "Genealogy of YUN Family in USA"that he wrote in 2008. We can imagine how proud he'd been as the "Patriarch" of the YUN family in USA. On the other hand, the full genealogy of the Yun family from Chang Zhou ??is thousands of page in multiple volumes starting from the Han ? dynasty, nearly 2000 years ago.
