Jie was born on September 30, 1960 in Shanghai, China. He earned his Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from Shanghai University before moving to the United States to continue his career. He later completed his Master's degree in Computer Science at Texas A&M University. He went on to have a long and fulfilling career as a software engineer, contributing to many important projects over more than 30 years.

Jie was widely known for his kindness, diligence, and perseverance. He was hardworking and dependable, and took great pride in providing for his family. He rarely took a day off and approached every responsibility with quiet dedication and an unwavering sense of duty. His reliability and strong work ethic were constants in his life, leaving a lasting example for all who knew him. To his family, he was a steady and devoted presence, always there in the ways that mattered the most.

In his free time, Jie enjoyed day trading, following sports - especially the NBA - and eating his favorite foods. Though he was a quiet man, any one of these could spark him into lively discussion.

Jie is survived by his two children, Cassie and Jeffrey Liu. His wife, Cecilia Goh, sadly passed away the year before.

Jie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm PST at Alameda Family Funeral, 12341 Saratoga Sunnyvale Rd, Saratoga, CA 95070. There will be a short reception to follow.
