Kathlyn (Kathy) Annette Sturla passed away after her courageous battle with cancer on September 3, 2016 at the age of 65 in Campbell, Ca.

Kathy is survived by her son Justin and wife Meagan, her grandchildren Ethan and Ella Noin of Reno, NV; her parents Warren and Bettye Sturla of San Jose, CA; her sister Carole and husband Randy Mason of Las Animas, CO; her sister Elaine and husband Den Loring of Brentwood, CA; her nieces Kelly, Marcy and Rene Strle, Corey and husband Sean Gonzales, and Kelsey Mason; and daughter Samantha Noin as well as her wonderful group of friends who loved and supported her.

Kathy was born in Los Angeles, Ca. on May 25, 1951 to Warren and Bettye Sturla. She grew up with her two sisters, Elaine and Carole, in Saratoga, Ca. where her family built a house and her father owned a dental practice. Kathy graduated from Saratoga High School and attended West Valley Junior College. She later moved to New Mexico where she had her son, Justin. After returning to California she worked for the city of Mountain View where she spent more than 15 years in various positions. There, she enjoyed playing a role in the advancement and growth of the city. Kathy loved to make things new and fresh and wanted to watch the area evolve. She also loved all things beautiful. She traveled often with friends and family and was well known for the gardens and landscapes she created and maintained wherever she lived. She liked to use her creativity and it came out in her love of art, and in her cooking. Kathy also enjoyed the outdoors and practicing yoga.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Kathy, on Friday September 23 from 11am to 2pm at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga. The reception will be held in the Cultural Exchange Center. Appetizers and refreshments will be served. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended.
