Kaushalya Bargotra was born on November 24, 1935, in Jaboki, British India, to Tek Chand and Sheila Wati Budhraja. As the oldest kid, she set a good example and assisted her siblings in any way she could. She excelled in school because she was hardworking, intellectual, and disciplined. She has a bachelor's and master's degree in education, as well as a postgraduate degree in languages and a master's degree in Hindi. She went on to follow her passion of teaching and was an outstanding educator for 47 years. She was not only an avid reader, but she also enjoyed writing poems. She was perceptive and kept a detailed notebook of her ideas. In her younger years, she was a passionate activist and social worker who worked to defend battered women and helped create a safe space for them. She also worked with indigent young girls, always full of hope that one day they will be empowered women and valuable members of society. Family was sacred to her, and she was the happiest with her loved ones. She was fortunate to spend her final years with people she adored the most, her children and grandchildren.

On September 15, 2023, she peacefully passed away in her sleep in San Jose, CA. a compassionate person, known for her high morals and virtuous nature, she lived a life that we can only hope to emulate. dedicated wife to Rajinder(deceased). Mother to Shefali, Kush, Shabnam, Pankaj and Dulce. Nani to Simran and Natasha, and Dadi to Mohan, Kaushalya exemplified unconditional love. Mama, we will miss you deeply. Thank you for the life you gave and the love you so freely shared. We are so blessed to have you as our mother.
