Kenneth "Ken" Leroy Johnson, aged 94, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Campbell, California, and he will be sorely missed. Born on July 18, 1931, in Denver, Colorado, Ken dedicated his life to his family, faith, and community.
Ken's education began at Clinton Elementary School, and Crestview Junior High, then continued at North High School, in Columbus, Ohio. He furthered his studies at Ohio State University, where he honed the skills that would define his career by obtaining his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and met the love of his life, Doris Johnson, a Tri Delta, while he was in school.
He proudly served in the US Navy during the Post Korean War Conflict from 1954 to 1957, a period during which he contributed with honor and commitment. It was during his service he developed his great love of travel.
Professionally, Ken was a Mechanical Engineer at Lockheed Corporation for 30 years. His work on the Space Shuttle and other Aerospace projects in collaboration with NASA/Ames marked significant contributions to space exploration and technology.
A devout member of Saratoga Federated Church in Saratoga, California. Ken was deeply committed to his walk with the Lord. He also volunteered at Kaiser Hospital for over 15 years as a Volunteer Pianist, where it was his pleasure to provide musical comfort to those suffering with illnesses or dreading their visit to the doctor.
Ken's hobbies included playing the piano, travel, volunteering, writing, and researching family genealogy, reflecting his diverse interests, and his passion for helping others.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Claus Johnson; mother, Margaret Johnson; brother, Alfred "Bud" Johnson; sister, Lois Johnson; wife, Doris Johnson; and daughter, Karen Johnson. His legacy of love and generosity remains a beacon for all who knew him.
A service to honor Ken's life will be held, celebrating his profound impact on his family and community. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, supporting a cause that was close to his heart.
