SARATOGA
Loretta M. Lyden passed away on January 19, 2022 in Saratoga, CA, shortly before her 90th birthday. Born April 7, 1932, in San Antonio, TX, she was the youngest child of Mary Catherine and Al H. Lamm, and grew up in San Antonio, TX.
She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1953, majoring in Home Economics.
She is survived by her four children; Michael Lyden (Marilyn), Dennis Lyden, Maureen Peeler (David, recently deceased), and Catherine Campbell (Lee).
In happy addition are eight grandchildren, Jeff Lyden (Kristin), Scott Lyden (Taylor), Katie Peeler, Molly Wright (John), Andy Peeler (Tessa), Luke Peeler, Jennifer and Shannon Campbell.
In addition, four great-grandchildren; Nicholas Lyden, Jack, Charlie, and Henry Wright, and Loretta's sister, Patricia Lamm Dalton of San Antonio. Proceeded in death by brother Bill Lamm and son in law David Peeler.
Loretta was married in 1953 to Joseph P. Lyden of Miami, FL. Loretta and Joe were married 54 years until his passing in 2008.
Loretta's most positive traits include her love for Texas, bluebonnets, big cars with fins, holding things together when Joe was traveling, heavily dosing cakes with rum, Chicken Fried Steak with biscuits and gravy, Jitterbugging with Joe, her joy in her Tuesday evening bridge club 'therapy', long phone conversations, and her love for her family.
A Rosary is scheduled at the Alameda Family Funeral and Cremation chapel in Saratoga, CA, 95070, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 7 pm. A Vimeo link will be provided for family and friends who cannot join us in person.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Apostles Church in San Jose, CA, 95129, on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11 am. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven cemetery in Los Altos, CA 94024, immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
