Lorraine Urshan was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away on August 23, 2026 at the age of 96. A longtime resident of Willow Glen, Lorraine was a loving wife to her husband David for 55 years until he passed away in 2017. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada to Margaret and Gustave Carriere, Lorraine was predeceased by her older sister Valerie and younger brother Hilton. Lorraine went to business school and worked for the Canadian Railroad as a secretary until she married David in 1962. In 1963 they moved to Willow Glen where they raised two daughters. In 1979 Lorraine opened Wind and Sea Travel and enjoyed a second career as a travel agent. Lorraine and David traveled the world and made lifelong friends until Lorraine retired in 1993 to be a full time Grandmother. Lorraine enjoyed annual family trips to Lake Tahoe with her children and then grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved baking. Every Christmas she would spend days baking cookies, tarts, cakes and pies for family and friends to enjoy. Lorraine also loved hockey and enjoyed attending and watching many Sharks games. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Lori-Ann (Jeff) Tarter and Cathy (Matt) Ramona, a devoted grandmother to Ryan (Sarah) Tarter, Sarah (Zander) Stevens, and Madison Ramona, and a cherished great-grandmother to Holly, Louis, and Maliyah. Lorraine was also loved by many nieces and nephews. She had an endearing sense of humor, a quick wit, and a smile and spark that remained even in her final days. She regularly expressed her deep love for her family throughout her life. We will miss her every day more than words can say. The family will hold a graveside service on Thursday, September 3 at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga at 11:00am. Please contact lorianntarter@gmail.com for more information.
