On July 20, 2023, Louis S. Gagliasso passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA surrounded by family. He has rejoined his wife, Nella, family and friends that passed before him.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service to celebrate Lou's life will be held on August 2, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 13716 Saratoga Ave., Saratoga, CA.

Lou was born on September 20, 1938 in San Jose California. He was the one and only child of Mario Louis Gagliasso and Magdalena (Nina) Bruno Gagliasso. He was born on the 10th anniversary of their marriage. He was married to Nella Filice Gagliasso on February 20, 1966, his beloved wife and true love for 45 years before her untimely passing. He was father to Robert and William, grandfather to Marco, Nicolo and Giorgio and father-in-law to Yvonne and Stuart.

Lou was a product of San Jose, CA growing up and living his entire life in the Bay Area. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1956 and USF in 1960. He was very proud to have graduated from both institutions and continued to support them his entire life. He was a longtime and regular attendee of the Bellarmine auction and would rarely miss the monthly alumni lunch with his classmates.

After a brief stint in the banking industry, Lou began his career in the travel industry that lasted over 60 years. Through his work at Marchant Travel he was able to indulge one of his life's passions, which was travel. He traveled the world to explore new countries and diverse cultures and to visit family and Casa NELLA in Italy.

He was immensely proud of his Italian (Piemontese) background. He visited and continued the relationship with all the Bruno and Gagliasso branches of the family his entire life. He also became an important and loved member of the Filice extended family in Calabria, Italy. He supported and participated in numerous Italian/American clubs and organizations over the years, including the Italian Catholic Federation, Florence Sister City, Amici D'Oro and others, rarely missing a lunch, dinner or event.

Lou enjoyed family, friends, entertaining, traveling, singing, dancing, history, art, people and wine. He was a well-rounded, kind and generous man who enjoyed engaging with all people. His life and work brought him joy. His frequent and vast travel experiences gave him insight and adventure. His family and friends brought him satisfaction and love. He looked forward to and enjoyed "Sunday Dinners," frequent dinners with friends and many many cruises.

As a husband and father, he was always available, supportive and unconditionally loved his wife and children. As a friend he was engaging, caring, and present. As a person he was cosmopolitan, funny, strong, smart, humble, and well-tempered. He was a man for others, his family and friends. He set a high standard for his sons and grandsons to follow. He will be missed but never forgotten.
