Obituary

Manisha Kalghatgi, age 73, passed away on August 6, 2022, from complications related to end-stage kidney disease and COVID-19.

Manisha was born on February 2, 1949 and immigrated to the US with her husband in the late 1970s. After her husband Satish Kalghatgi passed away unexpectedly in 1995, she single-handedly raised her son Roshan and daughter Reena. Manisha worked very hard and was a dedicated mother who put her children's needs ahead of her own. It was all the more challenging as Manisha's daughter Reena was born severely disabled in a world that did not cater to her needs. Manisha was a fierce advocate for Reena and didn't stop trying when the system failed her. Manisha moved from Michigan to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to find the right care and support for Reena. Though her son Roshan didn't have the same challenges and was very talented from the beginning, Manisha was still dedicated to providing the right education and environment to ensure he had a bright future. She was very proud of both her children's achievements and passed knowing both her children were in a great place to live and succeed on their own.

Manisha was kind, caring, and devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, devotional music, and discussing everything from politics to investing. She leaves behind her son Roshan, daughter Reena, daughter-in-law Geetanjali, grandchild Akhil, and grand dog Buddy. She also leaves behind her brother Narayan, sisters Palakakka and Sudha along with numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends from the Midwest to India to Australia. Manisha is predeceased by her husband, Satish Kalghatgi, her father, Krishna Kembhavi, her mother, Bhimakka, her elder brother Vadiraj, and her elder sister Mandakini (Kittakka).

She will be deeply missed, especially by her children Roshan and Reena, who will miss their conversations and memorable times spent together.

We all hope that she finds peace and happiness in her next journey. Manisha was a firm believer in Raghvendra Swamiji, we pray that he gives her Sadgati. Om Shanti.
