Maria Salud Andrade was born on December 08, 1925 in Morelia Michoacán Mexico. Maria was the eldest of 3 siblings. Upon her mothers untimely death as a young child, Maria was separated from her younger brothers and was placed in the care of her fathers relatives.
Maria married Adolfo Ayala in Morelia when she was 19 years old. Maria and Adolfo immigrated to United States in 1946 and established their residency in Los Angeles, California where she worked in the restaurant industry as a food prep cook.
In 1948, Maria and Adolfo moved to Pittsburg, California to seek better employment opportunities. For over a decade, Maria worked as a migrant field worker in the almond and fruit orchards and in the 1960's as a food packer at the Hickmontt Canning Company in Antioch, California. The company canned a variety of fruits and vegetables, but was best known for peaches and especially asparagus.
As a result of the industry lay offs, Maria left the cannery and began working as a food prep cook at the Mecca restaurant in Pittsburg, California. In 1974, Maria moved to San José, California and established her permanent residency for the next 5 decades living with her son Adolfo Jr., daughter Annabeya and granddaughter Chimalma.
Maria passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2018. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria is survived by her 3 children, Angelina, Annabeya and Adolfo Jr. , her 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grand child.
Marias passes onto her family her legacy of unwavering love and joy. Her gentle heart and kind spirit touched all those around her. She will always remain in our hearts.
