Obituary

Marie Ann (Laviano) McManus, 86, of Cupertino, CA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020.  Loving mother to Stephen J. and wife Tiffany of Rocklin, and Sandra J. of San Jose, CA.  She was grandmother to Mandi, Ryan, Jordan and Kristena and great-grandmother to Alicia, JJ, and Matthew. "Favorite" aunt to her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas J. and wife Madeline Laviano of Cranston, RI. Predeceased by her loving husband, James F., formerly of Lincoln CA, parents, Thomas G. and Minnie Laviano of Belmont, MA and brother, Gerard P. Laviano of Hudson, MA.

Mrs. McManus born in Belmont, MA on July 18, 1933.  She graduated at 16 years old from Belmont High School in 1950.  She went on to graduate of Catherine Dell College located in Waltham, MA in 1952.  She married the love of her life in September 1954 and went on to raise her family while also working at McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Belmont, MA.

The family relocated to Santa Clara (and eventually Cupertino) CA in 1974.  Mrs. McManus remained a devoted fan of the former Boston Braves.  She loved to tease her children and grandsons about how she despised the Boston Red Sox, referring to the team as "dem bums" and they all loved to tease her right back by giving her a Red Sox jacket to wear when she was cold.

Mrs. McManus was a former long-time member of the Saratoga Country Club and was an avid golfer. She was a big part of the 9-hole women's golf group at Saratoga Country Club until her husband's retirement and their relocation to Sun Lakes, AZ in 1993.  The couple then relocated to Lincoln, CA in 2003 and Mrs. McManus remained there until 2009 when she moved to San Jose, CA.  One of her favorite past-times was traveling with her friends from Saratoga County Club for golf outings or traveling on vacations with her husband.

A viewing will held be at the Alameda Family Funeral Home, 12341 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, Saratoga, CA on Tuesday February 18, 2020 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.  A funeral Mass will follow at Church of the Ascension, 12033 Miller Ave., Saratoga, CA at 11:30 am.  Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos.
