Marilyn White, 1925-2025, was born in Rutland, Vermont, and had a twin brother and an older sister. The children were raised by relatives and her Aunt Agatha Johnson and Grandfather were her favorites. After graduating from Mt. St. Joseph's Academy , she worked at the USO and met her future husband Charlie. He headed off to WWII as an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corps; she worked in canneries and for the war effort.

Once the war was over, they moved to California and raised five children while Charlie finished at San Jose State and was a QC Manager at FMC. They later spent summers at their cabin in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho for 15 years.

Marilyn was a community activist and volunteer. She was awarded the first Saratoga Citizen of the Year, carried the Olympic Torch in 1984, was President of the Foothill Club, the Saratoga-Los Gatos Symphony, Soroptimist, an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, a Girl Scout leader, and an active Rotarian for over three decades. She played in the Saratoga Taiko group, and she received a Saratoga Historical Foundation honor as well.

She enjoyed painting, photography, traveling numerous times to Japan with the Saratoga Sister City group, and contributed to the Saratoga News. Over the years, she and Charlie enjoyed spending time with their thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hakone Gardens, the Saratoga Rotary Club Foundation, or the Saratoga Senior Center Ryde Program. Her family thanks Maria Guldner for years of friendship and assistance.

Marilyn is survived by four daughters and one son, their families, and several cousins in CA, FL, MA, MT, NY, TX, VA, VT, WI, and Japan. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Alameda Family, and a private burial will follow at Madronia Cemetery, with a family celebration-of-life at Hakone Gardens.
