Med Louis Daugherty - June 11, 1936 - December 24, 2023

Med Daugherty (87), of Los Gatos, California, passed away peacefully and joined the angels on December 24, 2023.

Med was born in St. Louis "Kinlock", Missouri on June 11, 1936, to Med Louis and Emma (Vennie).  He was one of 10 children.  He went to Holy Angels Catholic school, followed by Kinlock High School.  Med was active in rhythm and blues music, performing and teaching.  Med moved to Oakland, CA in 1962 to continue with his love of music.  He opened a custom stereo shop in San Jose in the late 1960's and was a successful businessman for 15 years, while still traveling to southern California to play music weekly. Med met the love of his life, JoAnn Johnson, and married her in 1973.  Their family briefly traveled to Southern California, returning permanently to the Bay Area in 1979. Ultimately, Med decided to follow his passion and talent, so he transitioned out of business and into the  Music Entertainment industry full time as a drummer and singer. Med was also active in the Musician's Union and served on the Board of Directors local#153/Lifetime Member of local#6SanFrancisco.

Med is survived by his wife JoAnn, sisters (Rose Harris, Claudette Williams, B. Diane Hawkins (William), children (Ty Cross, Med Louis Daugherty III (Debra), Cynthia Daugherty Caesar (deceased), Maurice Daugherty (Analiza), Nicole Daugherty Duran (Joe), Quinston Daugherty (Regina), and Crystal Kirkland (Howard), as well as 23 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his musical family…too many to name!  You know who you are!

There will be a celebration of Med's life in June 2024.
