Phyllis was born August 15, 1947, and passed away on May 9, 2021, with her husband of nearly 49 years, Gerald Blain, by her side. She was 73 years old. Phyllis was raised in Saratoga and resided for 40 years in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Los Gatos, until they moved five years ago to Volcano.

Discovering new places and revisiting favorite ones with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren gave her tremendous joy. Her most favorite places to visit were Santa Cruz and the ocean, but she also reminisced in her final days about her adventures with Jerry during his business trips to Canada, Germany, Netherlands, New York, Chicago, and Nashville. Together they enjoyed hunting for antiques, riding around the Sierra foothills in their Model A cars, and joining friends for an annual steamboat meet.

A devoted wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother, Phyllis found purpose in life caring for others and always put others' needs before her own. While raising her children, she worked and volunteered for many years at Lakeside Elementary School and her alma mater Saratoga High School. An avid reader, Phyllis loved historical fiction, as well as learning about local history in Saratoga and Los Gatos. When she laughed and smiled, her eyes lit up. Her warm presence, thoughtfulness, and humor will be greatly missed.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald Blain; daughters Rebecca (Jason) Seng and Margery (Stephen) Tonna; her grandsons Jonas, Joshua, Noah, and Christopher; and siblings Roberta (Richard) Walker, Harold (Jenny) Teeple, and Richard (Rachel) Teeple. She's preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margery Teeple.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate caregivers at Sutter Medical Center Sacramento who supported and comforted Phyllis and her family during her short battle with cancer.

A private celebration of life will be held in the future. Donations can be made in her memory to either the Saratoga Historical Foundation or the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
