Obituary

Prabha Khare was born in Pune, India on July 7 th, 1937. She was the eldest of seven children born to Shankar and Shalini Bhogale. She travelled all the way to East Africa by herself to marry our father Narayan yKhare. Our dad fell in love with her while visiting his friend who was mom's uncle.

Prabha is survived by two daughters, Anjali Srivatsa and Anita Mathew, four grandchildren (Sunil, Jason, Sanjeev and Rachell), son in law Chakra Srivatsa, three siblings and many cousins.

Prabha was a very extroverted, friendly and bold person. She loved parties, get- togethers and chatting on the phone. She was a great seamstress, knitter; and made dresses for us when we were young, and knitted sweaters for all of us. She was excellent at playing darts and badminton at the Club in Africa. She was also a decent Bridge player. Besides being an excellent cook, mom, and homemaker, she had a job in London and in an Insurance Company after coming to the U.S.

She adjusted from living in India until she was 19, and then Tanzania, East Africa for 22 years; followed by 3-4 years in London; before coming to the United States in 1977. She endured and faced the loss of both her sons, and my dad (1988). She loved all her family in India, was very attached to them, and made many trips to India to see them. She adored and was proud of all her grandkids. Due to proximity she played an important role in Sunil and Sanjeev's life. She was full of energy, loved life and positive. She was loved and admired by many, and will be missed by her family and friends. Her transition from her earthly abode to her next destination was very peaceful. Her daughter Anjali was by her side and holding her hand as she left us. May the Universe ease her pain, comfort and bless her soul and set her free.
