Puliur Srinivasan Santhanam passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at his son's home in Cupertino, California, surrounded by family. He was 91. He loved to be referred to as "Santa"

He was born in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India in 1934 to parents Chellammal and Puliur Seshadri Srinivasan. Sadly, his father passed away at a young age and he was brought up by his mother and his uncle and aunt.   Santa lived a life defined by working hard and enjoying life. He obtained a Masters degree in Physics & Mathematics that he obtained at the University of Madras where he ranked first in his class for the entire duration. He devoted nearly four decades to a singular and distinguished career at the Bank of India, rising to the position of General Manager. A specialist in international finance, he represented the bank across the world, working in Kobe, Tokyo, and Osaka during nine cherished years in Japan, as well as in London, Hong Kong, New York, and many cities across India including Madras, Bombay and Calcutta. Fluent in Japanese—a point of immense pride—he made sure everyone knew it!

Santa was gregarious, talkative, and endlessly engaging. His astonishing memory could summon vivid details from events seven decades past, and he continued sharing those stories with humor and clarity even in his final weeks. He embraced life with equal parts joy and discipline—working hard, celebrating hard, and forging lasting relationships wherever he went.

He was devoted to his family and exceptionally proud of his children and grandchildren. He shared a deep and loving marriage with his late wife, who passed away in 2016. He missed her every day thereafter. Generous by nature, he was always ready to help anyone in need. He loved playing Bridge, Chess and Table tennis and watching movies, and—more than anything—talking to people from all walks of life.

In recent years, Santa faced blindness, knee issues and respiratory illness with remarkable courage and dignity. He fought bravely until the end.  He is survived by his three children—Vatsa, Sribalan, and Sriya, all living in the Silicon Valley Bay area —two daughters-in-law, Bama and Vidya, his son-in-law Akhil, and six grandchildren, Keshav, Divya, Meera, Anjali, Arjun and Adi, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.  His caregivers Sisi, Lua and Lisa were all very dear to him as well.

He will be remembered for his warmth, wit, resilience, and the countless lives he touched across continents.
