On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, Reverend Li-Ping Thomas Wang, beloved husband of late wife Nancy Wang and father of three children, entered heaven at the age of 71. Pastor Wang was born on September 23, 1947 in Nanjing, China, to Henry Hian-Yao Ong and Grace Shu-Mei Ong. On December 31, 1977, he married Nancy Song-Nan Wang in Pasadena, California. They raised three children Andrew, Rebecca, and Shane. He received his PhD in Computer Science in Plasma Simulation from UCLA in 1979 and founded Guidepost Gospel Church in 1998. He earned his second - a Doctorate in Ministry - PhD (D.Min) from Western Seminary in 2012.

Li-Ping loved the Lord with all his heart. He left his job as an engineer at IBM and changed careers to dedicate his life to leading people to Christ. Shortly after getting married, his doctor said he only had six months before compete kidney failure. Instead, God blessed him with a second chance at life of 40 more years. And, he used that second life to give many others a second chance at life. His dedication and sacrifice to the church could be felt by everyone. He also loved basketball. Back in the day, there was seldom an occasion when he would miss recording the latest Kareem Abdul Jabbar game on his trusty VHS recorder. It seems like Sunday was his favorite day, when he could serve the Lord and then play basketball soon after.

Li-Ping was preceded in death by his father, Henry, his mother, Grace, and his wife, Nancy. He is survived by his three children Andrew, Rebecca, and Shane.
