Roy Ellsworth Combs was born December 25, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Leucadia, CA.  He attended San Diego State University before entering the US Army in 1943.  In 1946 he left the Army as Master Sergeant and entered Stanford College to obtain his MBA.  Upon graduation in June 1948 he passed the CPA exam and joined the San Francisco office of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG).  In 1958 he transferred to their Denver, CO office and was admitted to the partnership in July of 1959.  He then transferred to their San Jose office in July of 1966 as Managing Partner of that office and served in that capacity until his retirement in June of 1979.

Roy was also President of the San Jose Chapter of the California Society of CPA's, Chairman of CPA Administrative Committee - California State Board of Accountancy, President of the Board of Goodwill Industries - San Jose, and served as Treasurer of the Sainte Claire Club and San Jose Country Club.  For two years after retirement, he was active with the Grand Jury of Santa Clara County, serving as Foreman for year one.

He was married to his beloved wife, Ann, for 56 years until her passing in August of 2008.  He is survived by his daughter Carol, son Kevin, daughter-in-law Donna and four beloved grandchildren.
