Wen Li, our beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in Saratoga, California, at 9:55 PM on January 13, 2017. His son Gan and daughters Mei and Wei were by his side.

Wen was born on February 1, 1924, in Dali, Yunnan Province, China. He was the first in his family to attend college, where he studied journalism. He worked as a Chinese language broadcaster for All India Radio in New Delhi, India, in the 1940s-1950s. In 1962 he returned to China and taught as a professor of English at Yunnan University. He later became one of the founding members of China Daily in 1980 and moved to Beijing. He was a senior editor for the paper until his retirement in 1989, at which time he came to the US to join his daughter Wei.

Wen was a true gentleman, with a most kind and forgiving heart. He left many fond memories and words of wisdom with all who had met or known him. He was an optimist, taking on life and work with the most positive and disciplined attitude, even through times of hardship and illness. His grace, kindness, sense of humor, and love for others will be dearly missed.

拉托加市安祥辞世。他仙逝時由至親子女和親人陪伴在側 , 壽終正寢 , 享年 93 歲。

父親於 1924 年 2 月 1 日在中國雲南省大理市出生。他是家族中的第一位大學生 , 攻讀

新聞專業。 20 世紀 40 年代至 60 年代父親在印度新德里全印廣播電台 ( All India Radio ) 工

作 , 擔任中文翻譯和播音 ; 1962 年回到中國 , 在雲南大學擔任英語教授 ; 1980 年遷居北京 ,

成為《中国日报》的創始人員之一 , 並擔任高級編輯 , 直至 1989 年退休 ; 之後移居美國在女

兒李微處定居。

父親是一位最具有仁慈和寬恕心的真正紳士。他一生閱歷豐富 , 工作勤奮 , 善良溫厚 ,

熱愛親友 , 樂於奉獻。他的許多智慧和教誨給所有認識或見過他的人都留下了難以忘懷的回

憶。他是一個樂觀主義者 , 對生活和工作始終抱着最積極而又自律的態度 , 即使是在艱苦和

疾病當中也堅持不懈 , 為我們樹立了最好的榜樣。我們感恩父親於我們相處的日子 , 我們都

以他為榮。父親的恩典 , 善良 , 幽默和對別人的關愛 , 將永遠被懷念 !

我們將依從父親的遺願 , 後事一切從簡。謹擇於 2017 年 1 月 17 日星期二上午 8:00 點

至 10:00 點 , 在 Alameda 殯儀館舉行親友告別儀式 , 地址 : 12341 Saratoga Sunnyvale Road,

Saratoga, CA 9 5 070 。遺體火化後 , 骨灰將於 2017 年 1 月 18 日安放在 Madronia 墓地 , 地址 :

14766 Oak Street, Saratoga, CA 95070 。我們準備在適當的時候為父親舉行追思會。
