Yehia Mohammed Ahmed Eissa's Obituary
Yehia Mohammed Ahmed Eissa (6/26/24-2/20/17) was born in Sohag, Upper Egypt. He was the 5th of 14 siblings (from the same two parents). He has, to date, outlived all of his siblings, passing away peacefully, between his daughter's hands, at the age of 93.
By all accounts, he was the "golden" child.
When his father passed away at the age of 49, he stepped up and assumed the role of his late father, by helping his mother raise his 13 other siblings.
He intentionally failed his high school exit exam so that could help an older brother study for, and pass the exam, which his brother had previously failed, twice.
Though he got a full-scholarship to a Ph.D. program at the University of London in 1950, he delayed going to London, until his eldest sister returned home from Cairo, having just finished college, to be with their mother.
Although he had a very successful 25 year career, as the United Nations Ambassador to Burma, Indonesia, Pakistan, Lesotho, and finally to Saudi Arabia, he was a very simple man, who was extremely humble and approachable, with a great sense of humor. He preferred the company of the salt-of-the-earth type of people than that of other diplomats.
He embodied all of the characteristics of the Prophet Yehia (PBUH), as described in Surat Mariam (in the Holy Quran): kind, compassionate, obedient to his parents.
He was an incredible father, grandfather, husband, son and brother.
Although we know he is in a better place now, we are all heartbroken, even those people who had the good fortune, to meet him for just a few minutes.
It is an incredible honor for my sister and I to be his children.
There are no words to describe how much we will miss our Aboo: we will forever love you!
