廖陳寶貴女士于西元2017年8月8日在Cupertino 家中安詳辭世,享壽91歲。 她生於西元1925年8月16日台灣台北市,早年歷經日據時代到台灣光復時期,畢業於靜修女中,精通台語,日語,中文,在移居美國後也多少學習了英文,共四國語言。從小就是個氣質美女,她有著修長的雙手,吹彈可破又白皙紅潤的皮膚,即使到了九十歲高齡,仍然滿頭青絲,散發出高雅脫俗的氣息。台灣光復後,大家改學北京語(即當時的官方語言),丈夫—廖德良—是她當時的語文老師,因此近水樓台。從此她成為廖家的長媳,育有四名子女(媖娟, 美卿, 為誠和華玲),十一名孫子女和四名曾孫子女。她是一位溫柔賢淑的好妻子,好媽媽,好阿嬤,具有一雙巧手,很會織毛衣,也燒得一手好菜。她的人緣也很好,她們一家人一開始住在台南的糖廠,她常常叫小女兒將她做的菜或包子送去給左右鄰居,鄰居太太們也將她們的拿手菜,讓小女兒帶回來大家互相交流。除了廚藝精湛外,她還常常幫家人朋友編織毛衣,甚至免費開班授課,慷慨地分享他的知識和經驗。她對子女教育非常重視,所有兒女都進入台灣最頂尖的學校,包括政大和台大。這些人格特質,都是做子女最好的榜樣。 晚年移居美國加州聖地牙哥與兒子(為誠)同住,在68歲歷經大腸直腸癌轉移至肝癌,勇敢抗癌成功。10年後又遭診斷帕金森氏症,由小女兒(華玲)把母親接到北加州Cupertino照顧,堅強抗病10年。抗病期間,她從不對家人發脾氣,總是安安靜靜地承受身體的疼痛,甚至對家人感到抱歉,因為一直以來,都是她在照顧家人,病後需要家人照顧她,她感到愧疚。 她永遠是那麼的體貼,溫暖,可愛。她永遠保持著一顆赤子之心,喜歡聽歌,唱歌,旅遊和美食,她永遠有著幽默感和毫不吝嗇的爽朗笑聲。她的笑容和美麗,會永遠留在所有子女的心中。 廖陳寶貴女士的追思會將於2017年8月12日星期六下午1-4點在Alameda Family Funeral and Cremation舉行.
